Kadapa: Several YSRCP leaders and supporters paid homage to former Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh at YSR Ghat at Idupulapaya near here on Monday.
YSRCP president and Pulivendula MLA YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his mother YS Vijayamma and wife Bharati paid glowing tributes on the occasion. On seeing his son, Vijayamma hugged him. This was their first meeting after Vijayamma returned from the United States. In the May 13 elections, she had declared her support to daughter and APCC president YS Sharmila against her cousin Avinash Reddy for the Lok Sabha seat from Kadapa.
Sharmila avoided meeting Jagan as she paid the homage after her brother. Sharmila parted ways from her brother after raising a banner of revolt against his style of functioning.
In a brief speech, Jagan said his father YSR had championed the cause of Dalits and economically backward classes. He said Dr YSR initiated several weflare schemes for the empowerment of the poorer classes.
